Keerthy Suresh opens up about tackling her father’s fear over romance with Antony Thattil, says ‘Religious differences…’
From long-distance love to a cross-cultural wedding in Goa, Keerthy Suresh finally opened up about her decade-long relationship with businessman Antony Thattil.

Years before becoming a well-known name in South India(BHARAT)n cinema, she had already discovered her better half. In a heart-to-heart conversation on Jagapathi Babu’s Zee5 chat show Jayammu Nischayammu Raa, the actress spoke about her years-long relationship with businessman Antony Thattil and how their romance started way back in 2010, long before she entered films. And you must be curious as to whom we are referring. She is none other than Keerthy Suresh!
Keerthy was then occupied with studies, while Antony worked overseas. She stated, “We wanted to make sure about what we wanted first. I was busy with studies and establishing myself in the cinema. He was busy working overseas. Only after we felt ready, we informed our families.”
Here’s how they kept their relationship alive
It was not easy to sustain a relationship across nations. Keerthy and Antony spent almost five or six years apart when he worked in Qatar and she established her career in Chennai. But even with the distance, their relationship strengthened with time.
The actress shared that marriage wasn’t on their minds initially because both wanted to be settled professionally. The couple waited patiently until they felt emotionally and practically ready for that next step.
Did her parents approve instantly?
Keerthy also confessed she was apprehensive about how her parents would react to her decision, considering their religious differences. “I was afraid that my father would not approve,” she admitted. It took her nearly four years before she finally confided in him about Antony.
But to her surprise, her father not only embraced Antony in full but also received him with warmth and respect. “He even had a celebratory drink with him,” she said with a smile in remembrance.
A celebration that mingled two cultures
Finally, after years of love, patience, and understanding, Keerthy and Antony got married on December 12, 2024, in Goa. The wedding harmoniously blended both Hindu and Christian customs, which represented the couple’s journey through faiths and boundaries.
The small ceremony was blessed by close family and friends, who saw the union of a love story that had silently withstood the test of time.
Professionally, Keerthy Suresh last appeared in the Prime Video movie Uppu Kappurambu. With her strong performances and natural charm, she continues to walk the fine line between her personal and professional life.
