During an interview with India(BHARAT).com, when Mona was asked, instead of playing many impeccable roles in films and series, why Bollywood never saw her as a leading lady, Mona replied, “Nahi nahi, aisa hai that when I started out, I never, ever thought of being a heroine ki main heroine banke aaungi, I always wanted to act, toh mujhe jab first break mila with Jassi, I did not come from any background or film school, toh mere liye I kept learning on the go, pehle training of course zaroor hui thi par ek baar Jassi mila then life happened and that is the biggest teachers.”

Mona continued, “For me the growth we see on screen from Jassi to Made in Heaven to Kaala Paani to Ba***ds of Bollywood or Laal Singh Chaddha, whatever I have done some have worked, some have not worked, every show, every movie has given me you know, given me a chance to take it, toh usse mere real life connections bane, maine bahut kuch seekha as an actor, as an human being, toh mere liye ye wo journey rahi hai jahan pe I’ve just explored and then challenged myself, faced my fears and never felt, ye toh movie nahi chali, ab now what is going to happen, ye mera career hai and I’m going to keep trying and I’m going to stay consistent, jo hoga dekhi jayegi.”
