Maddocks Horror Comedy Universe’s latest addition Thamma has made waves at the box office. Headlined by Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the movie has so far collected Rs 127.9 crore. While all three actors received equal praise for their roles, one character that stood out for the audience was Veeran, played by Rachit Singh. In addition to being part of the lead cast, the film also marks Rachit’s Bollywood debut. Though model-turned-actor Rachit has been in the industry for over a decade, his big breakthrough with Thamma felt like a dream. In an exclusive conversation with India(BHARAT).com, Rachit revealed whether he had doubts about being overshadowed in Thamma while working with Ayushmann, Rashmika, and Nawazuddin.

Rachit Singh on Being Overshadowed in Thamma

When we asked Rachit if, indeed, his character in the film was amazing and brought intensity, depth, and everything one looks for in films like Thamma, but did it ever cross his mind that working with names like Ayushmann, Rashmika, and Nawazuddin, his role or character might be overshadowed? He replied, “Honestly, aisi koi insecurity thi nahi, because first of all I am happy to share screen with them rather than being insecure.” He then jokingly said, “Who am I, firstly?”

Adding to this, Rachit said, “So I am very glad to be a part of the film, which is such a big movie. And, to be very honest, Aman sir and Aditya sir were very clear about my character. They told me, ‘This is your part and this part needs a lot of physical presence, and we want you to transform your body because Veeran was the muscle in the film; he was the person who was the threat in the movie.'”

Singh further added, “So, I was very clear with myself, and there was no fear that I would get overshadowed by anyone. I think all these people are only helping me to look better because what am I doing? I am a part of a Maddock film, and having Rashmika, Ayushmann, and Nawaz sir in the movie only made me look better rather than feeling overshadowed. Also, they did full justice to my character, and it was a lovely experience to work with them.”

Meanwhile, Thamma has also surpassed the overall collection of Munjya, which is considered a huge achievement. The movie opened with positive reviews and is still holding strong at the box office despite films like Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, Baahubali: The Epic, and Haq being released.
