Mouni Roy calls Shah Rukh Khan's presence 'powerful' while shooting for 'Brahmastra'

Mouni Roy is one of the top actresses in the Indian film industry today. The diva has come a long way ever since she made her television debut with Ekta Kapoor’s Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She came to fame after she starred in Naagin and now she has been making headlines with her roles in Bollywood movies opposite Akshay Kumar, Ranbir Kapoor and others. The Gold actress has been facing the camera for years but when it was time for her to share screen space with Bollywood heartthrob Shah Rukh Khan in Ayan Mukerji’s magnum opus, Brahmastra, Mouni Roy revealed that working with Shah Rukh is an ‘out-of-body’ experience for her.

Brahmastra starred Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in lead roles, while Amitabh Bachchan played the role of a mentor and Mouni Roy was the antagonist in the film. Shah Rukh Khan and Nagarjuna had cameo roles in it.

Mouni Roy Calls Shah Rukh Khan’s Presence ‘Powerful’

During an interview with the Male Feminist, Mouni Roy shared her experience of meeting Shah Rukh for the first time. She said, “I have worked in television for nine years, I am very good with my lines and I memorise them quickly. I don’t remember the last time I fumbled so much. Someone asked me if my lines were ready and I said yes. I have gone on sets, first rehearsal, it’s such an out-of-body experience when you are standing next to Shah Rukh sir.”

Mouni went on to add that her character had to look very dominating and intimidating and she wasn’t supposed to look soft in front of Shah Rukh’s character. But SRK’s presence was a powerful one, and she realised she needed to calm herself down to ‘hold his gaze’. She said, “I looked at Shah Rukh Khan and I just forgot what I had to say. It’s powerful. I can’t be a girl-next-door, stylised and all. You have to hold his gaze and go for it. So, I was like ‘ok, I need to calm down’. Ayaan too came and said ‘calm down, don’t get nervous’.”

Talking about her professional commitments, the actress was recently seen in Milan Luthria’s Sultan Of Delhi based on Arnab Ray’s book Sultan of Delhi: Ascension. Mouni essayed the role of Nayanthara and had a cabaret performance in a song.
