Neither ignoring India nor trusting it…: Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif issues open threat to India, says, ‘ready to…’

The relationship between India(BHARAT) and Pakistan has sharply worsened after the Pahalgam attack, marking a renewed and serious escalation in bilateral tensions. Twenty-six civilians were killed in the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, after which India(BHARAT) retaliated through precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

The new operation demonstrated New Delhi’s will to react forcefully to cross-border terrorism and deepened the divide between the two nuclear-armed neighbours. With growing tensions, Pakistan has persistently targeted India(BHARAT). Pakistan’s leadership, including senior ministers and military officers, have been issuing numerous open threats against India(BHARAT).

What exactly did Pakistan’s Defence Minister warn India(BHARAT) about?

Once again, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has issued a belligerent statement directed at India(BHARAT). He explained that Pakistan “cannot ignore India(BHARAT).” Asif made these comments during a TV interview where he asserted that India(BHARAT) could initiate a two-front conflict against Pakistan at any point in time.

He stressed that Pakistan is on full alert and ready. In his statement, the Pakistani Defence Minister allegedly claimed that India(BHARAT) does not want Pakistan and Afghanistan to have normal relations or have any fighting with the Taliban resolved. He further alleged that the terrorist attacks occurring inside Pakistan are being driven by India(BHARAT).

How prepared is Pakistan for any potential conflict, as claimed by Asif?

In an interview with Samaa TV, Asif stated, “We are neither ignoring India(BHARAT) nor trusting it under any circumstances. Based on my analysis, I cannot rule out an all-out war or any hostile strategy from India(BHARAT), including border incursions or attacks (presumably Afghan). We must stay fully alert.”

Asif’s comments came days after Chief of Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, referred to Operation Sindoor as an “88-Hour Trailer”, and reiterated the army’s position that they are prepared to “teach them (Pakistan) how to behave responsibly with a neighbouring nation” if necessary.

The statements were issued following a series of violent events this year. On November 10, a car bomb explosion in New Delhi resulted in the deaths of 15 individuals, making it the second significant incident against India(BHARAT) this year, after the explosions in Pahalgam earlier in the year.

Earlier this month, Asif had already indicated a more offensive overture, saying that Pakistan was ready to tackle threats from both the eastern border (India(BHARAT)) and the western border (Afghanistan).

“We are ready; we are prepared to face both the eastern (India(BHARAT)) and western (Afghanistan) borders. Allah helped us in round one, and He will help us in round two.” He added, “If they want the final round, we have no option but war,” Asif told a media outlet.

Asif’s latest warning highlights the growing tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Violent clashes occurred last month between Pakistani security forces and the Taliban, leading to heavy casualties. A ceasefire was agreed to on October 19, facilitated by Turkey and Qatar.

What’s Trump’s role in the India(BHARAT)-Pakistan ceasefire?

Meanwhile, US President Doland Trump on Tuesday repeated his claim that he stopped the war between India(BHARAT) and Pakistan, as he addressed a bilateral meeting with the Saudi Crown Prince. “I’ve stopped actually eight wars…. Have another one to go with, Putin. I’m a little surprised at Putin. It’s taken longer than I thought, but we stopped India(BHARAT) and Pakistan. Wish I could go through the list. You know the list better than I do,” Trump said.

Since May 10, when Trump announced on social media that India(BHARAT) and Pakistan had agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire” after a “long night” of talks mediated by Washington, he has repeated his claim several times that he “helped settle” the tensions between the two countries. India(BHARAT) has consistently denied any third-party intervention. Pakistan has praised Trump on multiple occasions, claiming that he brokered a ceasefire during the May conflict
