New Ferozepur-Delhi Vande Bharat Express train ANNOUNCED: Major stops at Faridkot, Bathinda, Patiala, Ambala Cantt, Kurukshetra, Panipat; Check timings

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that a new Vande Bharat train will soon run between Ferozepur in Punjab (close to the Pakistan border) and New Delhi, passing through important cities like Bathinda and Patiala. Along with this, a new railway line will also be built between Rajpura and SAS Nagar (Mohali). This will make travel easier for many parts of Punjab and directly link them to the Chandigarh-Mohali-Panchkula tricity region.

Although the launch date has not been fixed yet, the plan has already been cleared in principle and will now be sent for final cabinet approval.

Train Schedule

  • The Vande Bharat Express will leave Ferozepur Cantt at 7:55 am every day (except Wednesday) and reach Delhi at 2:35 pm.
  • It will stop at Faridkot, Bathinda, Dhuri, Patiala, Ambala Cantt, Kurukshetra, and Panipat.
  • The total journey is 486 km and will take about 6 hours 40 minutes.
  • On the return trip, the train will leave Delhi at 4 pm and reach Ferozepur at 10:35 pm, with the same halts.

New Rajpura-Mohali Line

The Rajpura-Mohali railway line will be 18 km long, cost Rs. 443 crore, and require 54 hectares of land, which the Punjab government will provide. This line has been a long-pending demand for almost 50 years.

Vaishnaw also said that other projects in Punjab, such as the Chandigarh railway station upgrade, are on track and expected to finish by 2026-27.

“The region has, in a sense, been cut off from Chandigarh,” the minister explained. “Right now, trains coming from Ludhiana have to take a longer route through Ambala to reach Chandigarh, which wastes both time and distance. The new Rajpura-Mohali rail link will connect directly to the Chandigarh line and solve this problem.”

He also shared that besides the Rajpura-Mohali project, seven other big railway works are currently underway in Punjab. These include the Bhanupali-Bilaspur-Beri new line, the Nangal Dam-Talwara new line, and the Ferozpur-Patti new line, among others.
