Many actors in India(BHARAT)n cinema have come from humble backgrounds. From struggling days to surviving on pennies, so many actors in the industry have faced hardships for years. However, there are many who rose to fame after enduring such struggles. Similarly, the actor we are going to discuss was once called an “unlucky” actor. However, he fought his fate, and today he is a known face in the industry.
This actor has worked in television shows and films across Bengali, Hindi, and Telugu cinema. And these days, his series is trending all over the internet. We are talking about none other than Jisshu Sengupta.
Born in Kolkata to theatre artist Ujjwal Sengupta, Jisshu revealed in an interview with Bollywood Hungama that his family faced financial hardships during his childhood. He said, “There were times when we didn’t have money to eat. My father couldn’t pay the bills, so the house went without electricity for six months.”
He further added, “My mother taught us the true meaning of candlelight dinners. Still, we were happy; life, though difficult, was beautiful.” He also said that he saw his mother cry because there was no food in the house.
Jisshu said that he never dreamed of becoming an actor as he wanted to pursue drumming and cricket. His life changed when he landed his first TV show, Mahaprabhu, in 1998 at the age of 18. He admitted his audition was terrible, yet he was selected for the role.
He earned Rs 250 per day for the daily soap. After the show’s success, he became a Bengali TV superstar. He played lead roles in four shows simultaneously and worked for 72 hours continuously.
Now, Jisshu’s recent web series The Trial Season 2 is trending on OTT and is widely loved by the audience.
