Operation Chhatru: Encounter breaks out in J&K’s Kishtwar district, three terrorists suspected to be hiding

An encounter started early on Wednesday between security forces and terrorists in the Chhatru area of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir. Officials said the operation began after security agencies got specific information about terrorists hiding in the region. Acting on this tip, joint teams of the India(BHARAT)n Army’s White Knight Corps and the Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a search operation early in the morning.

“Alert troops of the White Knight Corps, working with J&K Police, made contact with terrorists in the Chhatru area. Gunfire has been exchanged, and the operation is still going on,” the White Knight Corps said in a post on X.

According India(BHARAT) Today report, two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area. The group has been active in the region for several months, and security forces had been tracking their movements closely.

The Chhatru area, which lies in the mountainous region of Kishtwar, has witnessed occasional militant activity over the past year. In recent months, security forces have stepped up counter-terror operations to restore peace in the region.
