New Delhi: Bankrupt Pakistan has become a global liability, surviving largely on financial assistance from other countries. As the economy of the terror-linked state continues to collapse, the condition of ordinary Pakistanis has worsened in tandem. Owing to this severe economic decline, even Muslim nations are now reluctant to accept Pakistani nationals. In a major development, countries like Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Azerbaijan have taken major action and deported thousands of Pakistani citizens from their countries on charges of begging.
According to a report by ET, all three countries have deported thousands of Pakistani citizens this year on allegations of begging. In fact, several Pakistanis were found to have traveled to South Asian countries on tourist visas, but then stayed on and started begging, showing no intention of returning to Pakistan.
“At least 51,000 Pakistanis have been offloaded at various airports in this year alone,” Riffat Mukhtar Raja, Director General of Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency, informed the National Assembly Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Rights.
Here are some of the key details:
- Saudi Arabia has expelled 24,000 Pakistanis from the country this year alone solely on charges of begging.
- This is the highest number of Pakistanis deported by any country on such allegations.
- The UAE has expelled 6,000 Pakistanis
- Azerbaijan has deported 2,500 beggars of Pakistani origin.
- In recent times, Pakistan has made significant efforts to woo Azerbaijan, making this move particularly noteworthy.
