Pakistan expanding its satellite surveillance network, getting help from China and…, weakness revealed during Indian attack
Pakistan is strengthening its defence capabilities after facing defeat from India in Operation Sindoor. Now, Islamabad is improving its space-based intelligence systems.
New Delhi: Operation Sindoor has showcased India(BHARAT)’s prowess and its attack capabilities. However, it also highlighted Pakistan’s bad defence system. During the operation, Islamabad lacked the capability to monitor India(BHARAT)n Army movements. India(BHARAT)n aircraft barged into Pakistan’s territory and destroyed Nur Khan airbase in Rawalpindi and terrorists’ hideouts in PoK. All these fighter jets, missiles and drone attacks were completely invisible to the Pakistan radars and defence systems. Now, after facing a shameful defeat from India(BHARAT), Islamabad is working on improving its defence capabilities. The neighbouring country is getting help from China, which is providing it with satellite surveillance, a fact publicly confirmed by India(BHARAT)n military officials. Let’s know more.
Chinese Satellite Systems Failed During India(BHARAT)’s Strike
As per several reports, despite being equipped with Chinese satellite, the Pakistan Army received delayed inputs about India(BHARAT)n weapons, delaying its overall response. The operation also highlighted Pak’s longstanding weakness which is the inability to adapt to space-based intelligence systems. As other countries are strengthening their space-based intelligence systems, Pakistan has also started its efforts.
As per a report, Pakistan is seeking help from Europe, while Turkey and China are already helping the neighbouring country, bridging the satellite surveillance gap with India(BHARAT).
What Pakistan Is Doing To Enhance Satellite Surveillance?
Notably, Pak has launched two significant satellites in January after Operation Sindoor. First was PAUSAT-1 which was launched from Elon Musk’s SpaceX’s Falcon 9 Transporter-12 mission. The 10U nano-satellite was a joint project between Air University Islamabad and Istanbul Technical University. The satellite has multispectral and hyperspectral sensors which provide ground resolution images of up to 1.5 meters. The Turkish university is connected to the EU Horizons network which is indirectly providing Pak access to the European engineering ecosystem.
Another was PRSC-EOL satellite, which was launched from Jiuquan facility in China. As per Pakistan, it is a domestically designed satellite.
Pakistan’s Ground Infrastructure Weaknesses Revealed
After Operation Sindoor, the analysis revealed that Pakistan’s ground infrastructure is vulnerable to India(BHARAT)n attack. In 2024, during Iran-Pakistan border tensions, Pakistan received crucial images after 48 hours even after an emergency request.
This is the reason why Pakistan is striving to build a satellite surveillance network with the help of Europe, China, and Turkey.
The country is also going to launch a synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) satellite with Chinese assistance between 2026 and 2027. The satellite will provide it with 24-hour surveillance capabilities.
Chinese engineers have also visited Pakistan’s space agency, SUPARCO, raising speculation that China is working to enhance Pak’s surveillance capabilities.
