Pakistan to conduct NUCLEAR test soon? Pakistani Army building tunnels in Sindh mountain, IAEA demands investigation, says…
The groups have warned that if nuclear materials are indeed present in these underground facilities, it could pose a serious threat of radioactive contamination
Islamabad: In a major development, Pakistan is building a secret nuclear facility in the hilly regions of Sindh province. As per the reports, the Pakistani army is constructing tunnels and chambers within the mountains. It is important to note that the revelation has been made by a coalition of Sindhi civil society groups and the Sindhudesh Movement. They have raised immediate international concern over alleged covert nuclear-related activities taking place in these remote mountainous areas.
Reports also add that the terror state Pakistan may be preparing to conduct secret nuclear tests at this site. It is also suspected that Pakistan could be developing the area as a storage site for nuclear weapons to keep them beyond India(BHARAT)’s reach.
Letter to the UN Secretary-General and IAEA
These groups have sent a formal letter addressed to the United Nations Secretary-General, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs, and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), where they have claimed that several underground tunnel and chamber systems have been constructed near Nooriabad, north of Jamshoro, around Qambar-Shahdadkot, and west of Manchar Lake.
The letter was shared by Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM) chairman Shafi Burfat on his official X account.
Here are some of the key details here:
- As per the letter, Pakistan is keeping strict military secrecy around these tunnels.
- Public access is restricted, and construction work is in full swing.
- It is feared that these tunnels might be used for storing nuclear materials or for related processes.
- The groups have warned that if nuclear materials are indeed present in these underground facilities, it could pose a serious threat of radioactive contamination
- It could also create environmental damage, and violations of international nuclear safety and non-proliferation standards.
Demand for IAEA investigation
Reports suggest that the letter calls for immediate international verification, emphasizing that the purpose is not to escalate tensions but to ensure transparency, safeguard civilians, and protect the environment. IAEA has been requested to assess whether these allegations fall within its verification mandate and, if appropriate, to deploy technical experts for on-site evaluation.
