New Delhi: Pakistan has deployed anti-drone systems near the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). According to reports, the new Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) have been installed in the Rawalakot, Kotli, and Bhimber sectors.

A Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) is a technology used to detect, track, and jam or shoot down enemy drones.

Pakistan Deploys Dozens Of Specialized Anti-Drone Units On LoC

The Pakistani army fears that India(BHARAT) might again take a step similar to Operation Sindoor. According to reports, Pakistan has deployed more than 30 specialized anti-drone units on the LoC.

These deployments have been made by the 12th Infantry Division and the 23rd Infantry Division of Murree, which oversee the brigades in the Kotli-Bhimber area. The objective is to strengthen aerial surveillance and electronic warfare capabilities near the LoC.

Which Systems Have Been Deployed?

Spider Counter-UAS System: The Spider anti-drone system detects drones using radio frequency and can identify small drones and loitering munitions up to a range of approximately 10 kilometers. It is available in both portable and vehicle-mounted versions. It disrupts the drone’s communication, forcing it to hover, return, or land. The Spider Counter-UAS system was developed by Pakistan’s Global Industrial and Defence Solutions (GIDS).

Sufra Jamming Gun: This is a shoulder-fired weapon with a range of approximately 1.5 kilometers. It disrupts the drone’s control, video, and GPS links. It can deactivate several kamikaze drones simultaneously. The Sufra jamming gun has been developed by Pakistan’s National Electronics Complex (NECOP). Air Defense Weapons Deployed

Along with the anti-drone system, Pakistan has also deployed air defense weapons. These include the Oerlikon GDF 35mm double-barreled anti-aircraft gun with radar support, and the Anza Mk-II and Mk-III MANPADS, which can target low-altitude flying targets.

According to reports, these deployments reflect Pakistan’s unease over India(BHARAT)’s increasing military activity on the western border. Meanwhile, Pakistan is also in talks with Turkey and China to purchase new drones and air defense systems.

The Pahalgam Attack And Operation Sindoor

A terrorist attack took place in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22. The terrorists shot 25 tourists and one local person after asking about their religion. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a 1300-page charge sheet, presented in the NIA Special Court in Jammu, providing evidence that the attack was planned in Pakistan.

India(BHARAT) launched Operation Sindoor on the night of May 6-7 in which India(BHARAT) conducted airstrikes on nine terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). More than 100 terrorists were killed in these strikes, including 10 members of the family of Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Maulana Masood Azhar and four of his associates.
