Poco M8 5G India Debut on January 8: From snapdragon chipset to 50MP camera, here’s what to expect

Poco is finally going to make the India(BHARAT)n smartphone market a little brighter early next year as the Chinese giant has finally confirmed the launch of its Poco M8 5G on January 8, 2026. The news has already put the internet on fire as people have started digging into the rumors that have already come out about the budget smartphone.

Official leaks from Poco’s microsite show that the company will organize the launch event for the handset at 12: 00 PM IST, after which the smartphone will be made available for purchase on Flipkart itself. Poco has also already activated a dedicated microsite on Flipkart in the run-up to the handset’s launch event.

On the Design Front

Poco’s upcoming smartphone already looks gorgeous, as the company has already shared renders and teasers of the smartphone as well. The thickness of the smartphone has been leaked as 7.35 mm with an approximate weight of 178 grams. This is a dual-tone smartphone, with a different color used for the back panel as compared to the side panels and front screen. On the back, the smartphone also has a squircle-shaped camera module with a punch hole cutout on the top.

As for the specifications, the official ones are yet to be revealed by the company, but a few leaks and rumors are available, as mentioned below:

Software: Android 15 with Poco’s custom HyperOS

As per rumors, the Poco M8 5G is expected to sport a large 6.77-inch display with a high refresh rate, Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, 50MP primary camera, 8MP front camera, and much more. The handset is expected to come with Android 15 as the default version of the operating system and Poco’s custom HyperOS installed on top of it.

Pricing is yet to be confirmed by Poco but it is expected to be a budget to low mid range smartphone. Last year, Poco also launched a similar smartphone in the form of Poco M7 5G.
