‘Pressuring Imran Khan to leave…:’ PTI Senator makes major claim on former PM Imran Khan’s death rumour, cites violation…

The rumor of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan’s death has created yet another major controversy in Pakistan and has raised serious questions regarding the political stability of the country. As a result of being a highly controversial figure in Pakistan, Khan was able to maintain tremendous support from his party (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) despite being imprisoned and facing numerous legal problems. The circulating false information regarding Khan’s death caused his supporters to panic, prompted heated discussions on social media, and increased demands for clarification from the government.

What is the claim made by the PTI Senator regarding Imran Khan?

In addition, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Khurram Zeeshan from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa made a bold accusation against Pakistan’s leaders. Speaking to news agency ANI, Zeeshan stated the international community has never tried to call out dictatorship in Pakistan since it was easier to deal with one individual against the entire Parliament that reflects people’s voice. He accused the West of “wanting to control the nation by controlling one person.”

Zeeshan, who had won the senate seat from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the support of Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has raised concerns about the health of the party’s founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has been incarcerated in total solitary confinement for almost one month and has been prevented from contacting his relatives or legal counsel, as well as other senior members of PTI.

What is the rumor about Imran Khan circulating?

While speaking exclusive with ANI, Senator Zeeshan described the situation as a “clear human rights violation” and alleged that authorities were attempting to pressure Khan to agree to their terms. He linked the growing anxiety around Khan’s well-being to what he described as unprecedented restrictions inside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, adding that speculation about Khan’s health was directly tied to the conditions in which he was being held.

“It is extremely unfortunate. He is close to completing one month in isolation. His family, his lawyers and the PTI leadership are not being allowed to meet him. This is a complete human rights violation. They are trying to force him to agree to their terms,” he stated, arguing that the restrictions were deliberate and designed to limit Khan’s access to the outside world.

What violations are being cited by the PTI Senator?

At the same time, PTI-linked Khurram Zeeshan has made an important statement. Senator Zeeshan claimed that the current Pakistani government is in negotiations with former Prime Minister Imran Khan. He alleged that Shahbaz’s regime is pushing Khan to leave the country.

The PTI leader further revealed that the government is reportedly offering Imran Khan to either go abroad or remain incognito at an undisclosed location inside Pakistan for the duration of his exile. However, the senator asserts that Imran Khan will never accept those terms under any circumstances.

“They are trying to strike a deal with Imran Khan, asking him to leave the country. They even promise him concessions if he goes abroad and stays silent at a place of his choice. But Imran Khan will never agree to it. The kind of leader he is, he will never approve it,” he added.

Imran Khan has been in custody since August 2023, facing several legal cases he maintains are politically motivated. In January, Khan and his wife were sentenced to 14 years and 7 years, respectively, in a corruption case. Earlier in March, PTI leaders had also alleged that he was being held in a death cell under solitary confinement.

When asked why no photos of Imran Khan have been released since his incarceration, Zeeshan said the ruling dispensation in Pakistan appears threatened, fearing that even a single image could mobilise public support.
