Putin issues direct war threats to Europe, accusing it of obstructing Trump’s efforts to end Ukraine war

New Delhi: President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday, 02 December 2025, that Russia does not want war with European powers, but is ready to fight if Europe wants a confrontation with Moscow. Putin said, “We are not going to war with Europe, I have already said this. But if Europe suddenly wants to start a war with us and starts one, we are immediately ready. There can be no doubt about that.” He also threatened that if Europe starts a war with Russia, “a situation could arise in which there will be no one to negotiate with.” Putin’s threat comes just days after he issued a written assurance, promising not to attack Europe.

Putin levels serious accusations against Europe

Putin accused European countries of obstructing US President Doland Trump’s efforts to end the war in Ukraine. He said that European countries are presenting proposals they know Moscow will “absolutely reject,” so they can once again accuse Russia of not wanting peace. “That is their goal,” Putin said. Putin said that European powers have withdrawn from peace talks on Ukraine because they have severed contacts with Russia. Putin said of European powers, “They are in favour of war.”

Threatened to cut off Ukraine’s sea access

Putin also threatened to cut off Ukraine’s sea access in response to drone attacks on tankers of Russia’s “Shadow Fleet” in the Black Sea by Ukraine. In a televised statement, Putin said, “The ultimate solution is to cut off Ukraine from the sea, then piracy will become virtually impossible.” He said that Russia will intensify attacks on Ukrainian sites and ships, and will take action against tankers of countries that support Ukraine.

Ukraine targets two Russian tankers in the Black Sea

On Saturday, a Ukrainian security official said Ukrainian Navy drones targeted two tankers in the Black Sea as they were heading to a Russian port to load oil for foreign markets. On Tuesday, Turkey’s Maritime Authority and Tribeca Shipping Agency reported a drone attack on a Russian-flagged tanker carrying sunflower oil off the Turkish coast, but its 13 crew members were unharmed. Ukraine said it had nothing to do with the incident. Ukraine has also launched missile and drone attacks on the Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, disrupting oil supplies.
