Ravindra Jadeja apologises to Sarfaraz Khan for run-out blunder on Day 1 of 3rd India vs England Test

India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on Thursday admitted that it was his “wrong call” that led to Sarfaraz Khan’s run-out and apologised to the 26-year-old in a message on Instagram. Sarfaraz (62 off 66) was going all guns blazing before Jadeja misjudged a call for a quick single, leading to a run out at the non-striker’s end.

Jadeja went on to score an unbeaten 110 off 212 balls as India reached 326 for five at stumps. Skipper Rohit Sharma, too, scored a fine century, finishing with 131 runs from 196 deliveries.

“Feeling bad for @sarfarazkhan97. It was my wrong call, well played,” Jadeja posted on his Instagram handle.

A consistent performer on the domestic circuit, Sarfaraz had to wait years for his maiden India call-up, which came ahead of the Vizag Test.

India’s most successful Test bowler, Anil Kumble, presented the Test cap to Sarfaraz in an emotional ceremony witnessed by the latter’s family.

The five-match series is level at 1-1 after two Tests. England clinched a 28-run win in the first Test in Hyderabad before India bounced back to beat the visitors by 106 runs in the second Test in Visakhapatnam.
