REAL reason behind Pakistan-Taliban war exposed and its not TTP; Asim Munir joins hands with Trump to…, dangerous plan involves Afghanistan’s…
According to geopolitical experts, the recent Pakistan-Taliban war is rooted in Washington's overt desire to regain control of the Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan.
Pakistan-Taliban war: Pakistan and Afghanistan recently engaged in brutal military clashes, the worst between the two neighbours in recent years, as Islamabad accuses the Afghan Taliban of aiding and sheltering terror groups like the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), who regularly carry out terrorist attacks in Pakistan.
However, while Pakistan claims that rising terrorist insurgency by alleged Taliban-backed groups as the primary trigger behind tensions between the two country, a deeper, more nefarious exists behind the scenes, which involves the recent warming of US-Pakistan relations, and the ‘bonhomie’ between US President Doland Trump and Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir.
Has Trump made a ‘secret deal’ with Asim Munir?
According to geopolitical experts, the recent Pakistan-Taliban conflict is rooted in Washington’s overt desire to regain control of the Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan.
In an article for NDTV, veteran strategic affairs analyst Aditi Bhaduri noted how Asim Munir’s recent trips to Washington and his meetings with Doland Trump preceded the Pakistan-Taliban border conflict.
In September, Trump had Afghanistan that “bad things are going to happen” if the Bagram Air Base was not handed over to the US, following which the Afghan aliban issued a stern response, with Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi declaring that “not even one metre of Afghan land will be given to the Americans.”
A few days later, in October, Pakistan launched airstrikes in Afghanistan under the pretext of anti-terror operations against the TTP and other terror groups, which it claims are being harbored by Kabul. The attacks triggered a two-week long military conflict that ended following a ceasefire last week, following high-level talks between the defence ministers of the two countries, mediated by Qatar and Turkey in Qatari capital Doha.
Its believed that Pakistan’s attacks on Afghanistan after Trump’s remarks about Bagram Air Base are no mere coincide, and are indicative of a “secret deal” between the US President and Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir.
Why US wants Bagram Air Base?
The US, who had used the Bagram Airfield as a military base for operations during its invasion of Afghanistan, now wants to reclaim the base because it is located close to China’s nuclear weapons production centers, strategically important for Washington. Trump has asserted that the US was making efforts to reclaim the strategic base because of proximity to China’s nuclear weapons manufacturing sites.
“We’re trying to get it back (Bagram Airbase), that could be a little breaking news. We’re trying to get it back. Because they need things from us. We want that base back. But one of the reasons we want the base is, as you know, it’s an hour away from where China makes its nuclear weapons. So a lot of things are happening,” the US President said.
Currently, the Bagram Air Base is under the control of the Taliban government after the US troops withdrew from Afghanistan in 2021.
How Pakistan would benefit from US control of Bagram base?
Experts believe US regaining control of Bagram base would also benefit Pakistan as Washington would require Islamabad’s services to maintain logistics and extensive supply chains for the strategic base, generating crucial revenue for the cash-strapped nation.
Additionally, US presence in Bagram would also aid Pakistan in curbing the Afghan Taliban’s alleged support to TTP and other groups, and ensure that Kabul complies with assurance made in the Doha ceasefire deal, including not to support or shelter terrorist groups.
