New Delhi: The Israel-Hamas war is not yet over, at least unofficially, and in the meantime, the Middle East is already staring into a major military conflict between two powerful Muslim countries, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday, 30 December 2025, launched airstrikes on two ships loaded with military vehicles and other military equipment at the Mukalla port in Yemen, south of Saudi Arabia as KSA alleges that these two ships were brought from the UAE to Mukalla port for the separatist Southern Transitional Council (STC), the Yemeni rebel groups.
Saudi Arabia Issues Ultimatum To The UAE
Saudi Arabia claims that these combat vehicles were intended for use in Saudi territory, posing a threat to its national security. Saudi Arabia has warned the UAE and issued a 24-hour ultimatum to withdraw its forces from Yemen. Before the attack, Saudi Arabia shared a drone video of the UAE’s Fujairah port, where these vehicles were loaded onto the ships. Saudi Arabia directly blamed the UAE for the activities of the Yemeni separatists and warned Abu Dhabi that its actions were extremely dangerous.
Yemen Declares 90-Day State Of Emergency
Yemen’s internationally recognized Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) has declared a 90-day state of emergency. It also cancelled a joint defense agreement with the UAE and imposed a 72-hour blockade on air, sea, and land routes. This move comes in response to the recent seizure of large parts of the Hadramaut and Mahra provinces by the Southern Transitional Council (STC), a southern separatist group supported by the UAE. PLC Chairman Rashad al-Alimi described the actions as an unacceptable rebellion.
Are Emirati Weapons Destined For Separatists?
The Saudi-led coalition fighting in fractured Yemen said it had attacked a shipment of Emirati weapons destined for separatists. Forces of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) had seized territory in southern Yemen this month, taking control of large areas of the resource-rich Hadramawt province and neighbouring Mahra.
