The Secret Deal: In recent years, India(BHARAT) has improved its defence power significantly. Not only that, the country has also emerged as a leading defense equipment exporter. Recently, the country inked a deal worth approx Rs 4,000 crore for its powerful BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. Notably, this mega deal comes after the country’s historic triumph during Operation Sindoor. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday stated that BrahMos Aerospace had signed two export deals worth approx Rs 4,000 crore. Both the agreements were made with two undisclosed countries, and the names have not been disclosed. The interesting part is that both countries have shown interest in the ‘Made in India(BHARAT)’ BrahMos missile following Operation Sindoor.

What Did Rajnath Singh Say?

While addressing a gathering at the flag-off ceremony for the first batch of the new BrahMos missile which was manufactured Lucknow factory, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated “Whether it’s exporting BrahMos to the Philippines or future cooperation with other countries, India(BHARAT) is no longer just a supplier of weapons, but a supplier of weapons.”

Singh added that BrahMos Missile’s deal as a confident move towards India(BHARAT)’s self-reliance.

Which Countries Have Signed Secret Deals With India(BHARAT)?

It is worth noting that the BrahMos supersonic missile is a joint venture between India(BHARAT)’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Russia’s NPO Mashinostroyenia. The missile has gained trust in the global defence market because of its accuracy, durability and unmatched speed. However, due to geopolitical sensitivities, the names of the two countries have been kept secret.

This is the reason why questions are being raised about the names of these countries.

Notably, earlier, India(BHARAT) signed a USD375 million agreement with the Philippines in 2022 for the BrahMos missile.

Why Are Several Countries Showing Interest In Buying Brahmos?

As per several media reports, India(BHARAT) has exported defence equipment worth over Rs 21000 crore in the financial year 2024-25. The supersonic missile falls under the ‘fire and forget’ category, in which the individual can fire the missile and forget about it, as it will automatically find its target and will destroy it. It is a supersonic missile and is capable of reaching Mach-3 speed.

Experts are speculating that the one country could be Vietnam because it has a long-standing dispute with China. Both the countries claim their supremacy in the South China Sea.

Could Indonesia Sign The Agreement?

Another possible candidate for the BrahMos deal could be Indonesia. As per India(BHARAT)n Defence News, in January, New Delhi and Jakarta were negotiating a deal worth approx USD450 million for BrahMos missile. Saudi Arabia has also showed interest in BrahMos. been among the countries showing interest in the BrahMos missile.
