Chandauli: In a shocking news coming from Uttar Pradesh’s Chandauli, several people have been reported missing as boat carrying Chhath Puja devotees capsized. As per media reports, four people have drowned and the body of a young man has been recovered as the boat capsized due to imbalance created while taking selfies.

After learning about the incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Chandauli, villagers and the district administration were alarmed, leading to chaos at the ghat. Upon receiving the information, the District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP) of the area rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.

Chandauli accident: How did the boat capsize?

Reports have also said that thirteen-year-old Piyush, son of Kailash Ram; thirteen-year-old Yash, son of Shyam Charan; and twelve-year-old Arun, son of Kailash, had gone to the ghat to witness Chhath Puja, accompanied by Keshav Sharma, Bablu, and Anil from the same village. A fishing boat was stationed at the ghat, and all six boarded it to venture into the middle of the river. Reportedly, while taking selfies, the group lost balance, causing the boat to overturn. In the mishap, the three teenagers, Piyush, Yash, and Arun drowned in the river.

Also, as per the recent update, the rescue operation is underway and the NDRF has began searching for the drowned teenagers.
