Afghanistan-Pakistan clashes: In a significant development after fresh cross-border clashes erupted between Afghanistan and Pakistani forces this week, nearly 10 civilians were reported to have been rushed to a hospital in Chaman. In the recent development, Pakistan conducted airstrikes in Afghanistan’s Spin Boldak city causing severe casualties. Hitting the areas near the Chaman Border Crossing, the airstrikes created massive havoc in Afghanistan. What is happening on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border?

As per media reports, at least three Afghan-Taliban posts on the border were struck by the Pakistani airstrike after which both nations blamed each other. For those unversed, Pakistan and Afghanistan have been engaged in border conflict for the last few weeks and the Afghan officials claimed to have killed 58 Pakistani soldiers, while Pakistan said over 200 Afghan troops were killed, along with 23 of its own soldiers.

What has Taliban said on the recent attack?

“Unfortunately, this morning, Pakistani forces once again launched attacks with light and heavy weapons on Afghanistan in the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar, as a result of which more than 12 civilians were martyred and more than 100 were injured. After that, Afghan forces were forced to take retaliatory action,” Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid posted on X.

“In retaliatory operations, multiple Pakistani aggressor soldiers were killed, their posts and centres were captured, weapons and tanks fell into the hands of Afghan forces, and most of their military installations were destroyed. However, the mujahideen, with high spirits, are ready to defend their homeland, sanctuaries, and people,” he added.

Readers should note that Pakistan has long accused Kabul of sheltering members of the banned Pakistani Taliban, known as Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, or TTP in its country.
