Swaraj Kaushal, husband of late Sushma Swaraj, passes away

New Delhi: In a shocking development, Swaraj Kaushal, husband of late Sushma Swaraj has passed away. The BJP leader and late former Union Minister Sushma Swaraj’s husband Swaraj Kaushal died on December 4. Notably, Swaraj Kaushal was the former Governor of Mizoram and a senior advocate.

“Deeply saddened to hear about the sudden demise of former Governor of Mizoram and senior advocate Swaraj Kaushal. Husband of Late Sushma Swaraj and father of MP Bansuri Swaraj. He served the nation with integrity, wisdom and unmatched dedication”, BJP Malviya Nagar MLA Satish Upadhyay said.

“My heartfelt condolences to Bansuri and the entire family. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti,” Satish Upadhyay said.

The Delhi BJP announced Swaraj Kaushal’s death in a post on its Twitter handle and it also informed that last rites will be performed at the Lodhi Road crematorium on December 4th at 4:30 pm.

Who was Swaraj Kaushal?

Born on July 12, 1952, Swaraj Kaushal studied at Delhi University and Punjab University and then began practicing law. Swaraj Kaushal was recognized as a senior Supreme Court lawyer after which he also served as a Rajya Sabha MP for six years. In the later part of his life, Swaraj Kaushal also served as the Governor of Mizoram. Notably, Delhi BJP leader Bansuri Swaraj is the daughter of BJP leaders Swaraj Kaushal and Sushma Kaushal.
