‘There will never be…’: Netanyahu breathes fire as UK, Canada, and Australia recognise Palestinian State

New Delhi: Britain, Australia, and Canada have taken a major step in recognising Palestine as a country. The three countries formally announced this on Sunday, September 21. The Israeli government has reacted strongly and opposed the recognition of Palestine.

Benjamin Netanyahu is livid

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed anger, stating that these countries have taken steps on their own, but the establishment of a Palestinian state will never be allowed to materialise.

Reacting to Western allies like Britain, Canada, and Australia recognising the Palestinian state, Netanyahu accused these leaders of rewarding Hamas. Netanyahu said that “these countries are ignoring the way Hamas attacked Israel. This will embolden the Palestinian group”.

There will be no Palestinian State

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that this will never happen. A Palestinian state will not be established west of the Jordan River. Foreigners are honouring Hamas, but they will not succeed. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has previously stated that such a move is tantamount to “rewarding terrorism.”

The Israeli Foreign Ministry has echoed similar sentiments. In a statement, the ministry said that recognising Palestine as a state is nothing more than a reward for Hamas. The Foreign Ministry wrote on Twitter, “Hamas leaders openly acknowledge that this recognition is a direct result of the October 7 massacre.”

Three countries are allies of US and Israel

On Sunday, Britain, Canada, and Australia formally recognised Palestine as a state. These three countries are allies of the United States and Israel. Despite objections from the United States and Israel, the recognition was granted to Palestine. This is being seen as a setback for Israel and the United States.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has stated that Hamas will have no place in Palestine’s future. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney also clarified that this decision is not a reward for Hamas but rather a means of strengthening the Palestinian Authority and promoting democratic reforms. Australia issued a similar statement.

Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian described the decision as historic. She said that this step is not symbolic but practical and irreversible. “It brings Palestine closer to independence and sovereignty. While this decision may not immediately end the war, it will certainly shape its future course.”
