Trouble for Shehbaz and Munir as Balochistan issue echoes in Europe, exposes Pakistan Army’s oppressive policy in the region

New Delhi: Balochs have once again exposed the atrocities committed by the Pakistani Army in Balochistan and strongly criticised it. The Baloch National Movement (BNM) organised a major event in Berlin, the capital of Germany, to commemorate Baloch Martyrs’ Day. Political leaders, human rights activists, and representatives of the Baloch diaspora from several countries participated in the event. Speakers strongly criticised Pakistan’s behaviour, particularly highlighting its ill-treatment of the people of Balochistan and the plunder of their resources.

According to ANI, the BNM event highlighted the decades-long oppression faced by Pakistan against the Baloch people and the resolve for an independent Balochistan. In a post on Instagram, the BNM stated that the event strongly condemned Pakistan’s military occupation of Balochistan. The event recalled the March 27, 1948, invasion, which marked the beginning of systematic repression. Balochistan was described as being gripped by military camps, intelligence agencies, and a culture of enforced disappearances.

Stress on solidarity

At the event, Dr Naseem emphasised that despite years of brutality, the spirit of Baloch resistance remains unwavering. He said that this is not a battle of guns but of faith, and faith always wins. Dr. Lakhu Luhana of the World Sindhi Congress accused Pakistan’s Punjabi-led government of erasing the identity of Sindhis and Balochs and plundering their resources. He called for Sindhi-Baloch solidarity against exploitation.

Qadir Shah Ansari of PTM Germany condemned the military’s atrocities against the Baloch and Pashtun populations and called on the global community to challenge Pakistan’s military dominance and strive for civilian democracy. Tamil activist Nivethan Nanthakumar drew parallels between the Tamil and Baloch liberation struggles, emphasising shared sacrifices for dignity and justice.
