‘US tariffs will not affect our relationship’, says Russia; Putin to visit India in December
India has made it clear that it chooses its own partners.

New Delhi: At the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Putin’s visit to New Delhi in December is being planned. Regarding India(BHARAT)-Russia relations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, “We have a very broad bilateral agenda, including trade, military, technical cooperation, finance, humanitarian affairs, healthcare, high technology, artificial intelligence, and, of course, close coordination internationally, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), BRICS, and bilaterally.” He added that India(BHARAT) is fully capable of making its own decisions regarding its trade relations with Russia.
Lavrov praises Jaishankar
Sergey Lavrov said, “This year, India(BHARAT)n Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar will visit Russia, and I will visit India(BHARAT). We have regular exchanges. I’m not even asking what will happen to our trade relations, our oil. I’m not asking our India(BHARAT)n colleagues about this. They are fully capable of making these decisions themselves.” He also praised his counterpart Jaishankar, saying that India(BHARAT) has self-respect like Turkey.
Our economic partnership not threatened by US: Lavrov
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that the US tariffs on India(BHARAT) for purchasing Russian oil do not pose any threat to the economic partnership between India(BHARAT) and Russia. Responding to the US sanctions imposed on India(BHARAT) for importing Russian oil, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that the economic partnership between India(BHARAT) and Russia is not in danger.
The India(BHARAT)n Prime Minister and Foreign Minister have made it clear that India(BHARAT) chooses its own partners. If the USA has proposals to enrich bilateral trade between India(BHARAT) and the US, they are ready to discuss the terms with us, regardless of the conditions imposed by the US. However, when it comes to trade, investment, economic, military, technical, and other relations between India(BHARAT) and third countries, these are matters that India(BHARAT) will discuss only with the relevant countries.
