VIDEO: Pak army spokesperson winks at woman journalist during press briefing on Imran Khan, internet calls it ‘new low’

Pakistan Army spokesperson Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry faced strong backlash after a video of him winking at a female journalist during a press briefing went viral. Many social media users called his behaviour “unprofessional.” The short clip, shared widely on X, shows the journalist asking him about former Prime Minister Imran Khan. She mentioned that Khan is being called a “national security threat,” “anti-state,” and someone “working at Delhi’s direction.” She then asked how this situation is different from earlier times and whether people should expect any new developments.

In reply, Chaudhry added a fourth label, calling Khan a “zehni mareez” (a mentally unstable person). He then winked at the journalist, a gesture that quickly angered viewers and sparked widespread criticism online.

The army spokesperson heads Pakistan’s propaganda wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). He can often be seen spewing venom against India(BHARAT).

Many people on social media said the wink showed a “new low” for the military’s media office. One person mocked him by writing, “Ahmed Not Sharif Chaudhary.”

Another user criticised the moment, saying, “A DG ISPR winking at a woman journalist? That’s the death of professionalism. Was it a press conference or cheap flirting?”

Someone else on X wrote, “This is happening openly on camera. There’s no democracy left in Pakistan — the Prime Minister is just a puppet.” Another commenter summed it up by calling the situation “a meme of a nation.”
