New York: After the well-fought win over Pakistan and making it two out of two, the Rohit Sharma-led side take on hosts USA in their next game on Wednesday. While the USA would not be pushovers, yet the Indian team could afford to experiment in this Group A game. One feels with Virat Kohli not among the runs in two outings as opener, he could step down to No. 3 – a position he has made his own over the years. If that has to happen, Yashasvi Jaiswal walks into the side to open with captain Rohit.
If Kohli comes in at No. 3, Rishabh Pant can be dropped further in the order with Suryakumar Yadav at No. 4. If Jaiswal has to be incorporated as opener, then Shivam Dube may have to miss out. Hardik Pandya takes the No. 6 spot. Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel would be the two spinning all-rounders. And yes, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh would be the three pacers for India against USA.

Key contributions came from Rishabh Pant (42 off 31) and Axar Patel (20 off 18), while Pakistan’s Naseem Shah impressed with figures of 3 for 21. In response, Pakistan struggled to chase the target, finishing at 113 for 7 in their 20 overs. Mohammad Rizwan top-scored with 31 off 44 balls, but Jasprit Bumrah’s superb bowling (3 for 14) stifled their efforts.
