‘We don’t plan wars but…’: China’s stern warning after Trump’s 100% tariffs threat, says war cannot…
China's response comes after US President Donald Trump asked NATO countries to stop purchasing oil from Russia, and impose 50 to 100 percent tariffs on China to break Beijing's "strong grip" over Moscow, which he claimed would help end the Russia-Ukraine war.

Trump Tariffs: China has issued a stern response to US President Doland Trump call to G7 countries and NATO members to impose sanctions on countries who purchase oil from Russia, saying that Beijing does not plan wars but encourages peace talks and promotes dialogue to resolve issues.
What China said about Trump tariffs and sanctions threat?
China’s Foreign Minister held talks with his Slovenian counterpart Tanja Fanon on Saturday, during which Beijing’s top diplomat warned that wars cannot solve issues and “sanctions only complicate them”.
“China does not participate in or plan wars, and what China does is to encourage peace talks and promote political settlement of hotspot issues through dialogue,” in an apparent reference to Washington’s call to G7 countries to impose sanctions on buyers of Russian oil and Trump’s demand of NATO members slapping 100 percent sanction on Chinese imports, to force a resolution in the Russia-Ukraine war.
“China is a responsible major country and also a country with the best record on peace and security issues. War cannot solve problems, and sanctions will only complicate them.” Wang Yi said, adding that Beijing insists on resolving international disputes through dialogue and consultation, Xinhua reported.
Why Trump wants G7 sanctions on China?
China’s response comes after US President Doland Trump asked NATO countries to stop purchasing oil from Russia, and impose 50 to 100 percent tariffs on China to break Beijing’s “strong grip” over Moscow, which he claimed would help end the Russia-Ukraine war.
Additionally, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, during a call with G7 finance ministers on Saturday, reiterated Trump’s call to the bloc to join the United States in slapping punitive tariffs on countries purchasing Russian oil, “if they are truly committed to ending the Russia-Ukraine war”, according to a US Treasury Department statement.
While Bessent did not name any specific country, the US has often blamed India(BHARAT) and China for “funding” Russia’s war on Ukraine by purchasing Russian oil. “Only with a unified effort that cuts off the revenues funding (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s war machine at the source will we be able to apply sufficient economic pressure to end the senseless killing,” Bessent said.
