Operation Pimple: The India(BHARAT)n Army successfully neutralised two infiltrators on Friday night near the Line of Control in the Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The operation, codenamed ‘Pimple,’ was launched on Friday night based on intelligence information indicating an infiltration attempt. Security forces are conducting a search operation in the area to ensure no other terrorists are hiding.

What is Operation Pimple?

15 Corps shared a post on X informing that a joint operation was launched in the Keran sector on Friday night after specific inputs were received from the intelligence agencies. Teams of India(BHARAT)n Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) conducted the operation and noticed suspicious movement in the area. Terrorists opened fire and attempted to break through the security cordon. However, the security forces succeeded in surrounding the terrorists, and a tight security cordon was established to prevent their escape.

Then the security forces launched Operation Pimple to neutralise the terrorists operating in the area. The main aim of the operation was to thwart any infiltration attempts before the onset of winter. During the operation BSF, international border and Army personnel were deployed along the LoC to thwart any infiltration attempts.

Operation Resumed In The Morning

The operation, which was launched on Friday night, resumed on Saturday morning. The security forces stated that two terrorists were gunned down and a search operation is underway. Security forces have recovered arms and ammunition from the deceased militants. The identities of the terrorists have not yet been released.

Winter Season And Infiltration Attempts

As per the India(BHARAT)n Army and BSF, terrorists based at launchpads across the border intensify infiltration attempts before the onset of winter. These infiltrators get active in the months of October and November because the snowfall closes the mountain passes. However, the security forces are on high alert and are maintaining a strict vigil along the LoC to prevent any such attempts.
