When Amitabh Bachchan sent a truck full of roses to convince Sridevi to work with him, the actress still said…

Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi starred together in the 1992 blockbuster Khuda Gawah that was produced Manoj Desai and directed by Mukul Anand. In the book Sridevi: The Eternal Screen Goddess by Satyarth Nayak, the late choreographer Saroj Khan spilled the beans on how the actress came on board after Bachchan sent a truck full of roses to convince her to sign the action drama.

Sridevi reportedly didn’t find enough meat in her role and it was only after she was given a double role, that of a mother and a daughter, said yes.

A sequel that never got made

Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi were to unite again on screen for the sequel to their 1992 hit film Khuda Gawah.

“The script is being written for the sequel. It (film) was one of the most loved films and we thought of bringing it back. We have given a one liner brief idea to Mr Bachchan. We have got a positive feedback from him. Once the script is complete we will meet him again and approach him for this film,” producer Manoj Desai said.

“Once Mr Bachchan gives his nod for the sequel we may go and talk to Sridevi as well about the film. There will be other actors also in the film from the younger generation,” he said.

It seems destiny had other plans.

The original, produced by Desai, was about an Afghan lord caught between love and revenge. “We are working on the script so we can’t reveal about the story line,” he said.

Shot in India and Afghanistan, Khuda Gawah was one of the biggest grossers of 1992 in both the countries.
