When Dharmendra once lost his cool on a fan but later took him home, Bobby Deol says, ‘You haven’t seen…’
Even at 89, Dharmendra’s charm continues to captivate fans, and his son Bobby Deol recalls a rare story when the superstar disciplined a fan… only to show him kindness afterward.

Bollywood’s “He-Man,” Dharmendra, has been winning hearts for decades, and even at 89, his charisma remains intact. Fans on Instagram leave no opportunity to shower him with love, proving that the legend’s appeal transcends generations. Yet, even icons have their moments of dealing with over-excited admirers.
Here’s what happened with the fan?
In a conversation with YouTuber Raj Shamani, Bobby Deol, Dharmendra’s younger son, reminisced about a unique incident from his childhood. He revealed how his father once lost his cool with a fan. Bobby said, “He makes everyone he meets feel special. He gives them respect and love, and that’s a rare quality. But sometimes, some fans would do silly things, and yes, he did give them a scolding or a beating when needed.”
Bobby explained that new fans often didn’t know how to behave when meeting his father. “They’d get overly excited, say foolish things, or act inappropriately. I would watch and wonder why my father was reacting this way,” he added.
From discipline to compassion
What makes this story remarkable is how Dharmendra balanced discipline with compassion. Bobby shared, “The fan he disciplined, he later brought home, offered him milk and food, and even gave him some clothes. That’s who he is, a person of action rather than words.”
Bobby also emphasised his father’s strength, “People always talk about my brother’s two-and-a-half-kilo hand, but you haven’t seen my father’s hand, it’s 20 kilos. If anyone upset him, that was the end of it.”
Life lessons from a superstar father
Bobby further reflected on his upbringing under Dharmendra’s strict guidance. “My father never let me wander outside. I would go straight home from school; that was it. There was a 9 PM curfew. I’d help with his parties and then leave. That discipline shaped me,” he revealed.
