In a recent development of the security forces, a top Maoist commander, Madvi Hidma, was killed in the early hours of Tuesday, i.e., November 18. Hidma has been the primary participant in the attacks, like the Dantewada attack of 2010 and the Jhiram Valley Massacre of 2013. There was a bounty of Rs. 50 lakh on Madvi Hidma, who was killed on Tuesday along with his second wife and some bodyguards.
Who was Madvi Hidma?
Madvi Hidma was born in Sukma town of Chhattisgarh in the year 1981. He was heading Battalion-1 of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA). Alongside, Hidma was the youngest one in the Central Committee of the CPI.
It is believed that Madvi Hidma has played the primary role of ‘mastermind’ in attacks like the Dantewada Attack of 2010 and the Jhiram Valley Massacre of 2013. The attacks of 2010 killed 76 personnel of the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force), and those of 2013 killed 27 individuals, including top leaders from the Congress party.
How was Madvi Hidma killed?
Madvi Hidma was killed in the early morning hours on Tuesday. As per the security officials, he was killed with his second wife, Raje and four bodyguards. The encounter took place in Andhra Pradesh’s Alluri Sitarama Raju district.
A top official said, “For the past few weeks, Andhra Pradesh SIB/intelligence inputs have specifically indicated the movement of Maoists near the AP-Chhattisgarh-Odisha border and, based on those inputs, we operated and got this success.”

The Minister of Home Affairs of India(BHARAT), Amit Shah, congratulated the security forces for the successful encounter with the top Maoist commander. He gave a deadline of November 30 to the forces to kill Madvi Hidma. This was a part of the anti-Maoist operation.
