Nupur Bora is accused of transferring land belonging to Hindus to suspicious people in exchange for money during her posting in Barpeta.

The Vigilance Cell led by the Chief Minister, on September 15, undertook a raid and seized Rs 92 lakh in cash and jewellery worth nearly Rs 1 crore. It wasn’t from the residence of a businessman or a goon. It was from a government officer who is presently working as the Circle Officer of the Goroimari Circle in the Kamrup district. She is Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer Nupur Bora.
Who is Nupur Bora?
Nupur Bora, a resident of Golaghat who joined the Assam Civil Service in 2019, was currently posted as a circle officer in Kamrup district’s Goroimari. Nupur Bora, serving just six years in government, is reported to have amassed substantial wealth, drawing attention of authorities.
The Special Vigilance cell also conducted a raid at the residence of her alleged aide, Lat Mandal Surajit Deka, who works at the revenue circle office in Barpeta. He is accused of acquiring multiple land properties across Barpeta in collusion with Nupur Bora, when she was the circle officer there.
What the CM said?
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also said she was under surveillance for the last six months following complaints of alleged involvement in controversial land-related issues. He said, “When she was posted in Barpeta revenue circle, this officer transferred land belonging to Hindus to suspicious persons in exchange for money. We have taken strict action against her.”
