Why did CID went off-air after 20 years? Shivaji Satam reveals the truth, check Amitabh Bachchan connection
Shivaji Satam aka ACP Pradyuman breaks silence on why did CID go off-air, he also dropped hint on clash with Amitabh Bachchan's Kaun Banega Crorepati.
We’ve all watched the iconic crime-drama TV show CID, where the crime branch officers solved a lot of cases. The actor at the back of ACP Pradyuman, Shivaji Satam, recently revealed the reason the show went off-air after a 20-year run. In an interview with Friday Talkies, Satam shared that CID became in direct competition with Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). A conflict arose between the show’s makers and the channel over the time slot allotted to CID. At the starting place airing at 7 pm, the show became moved to a 10 pm slot, and later to 10:30 pm, which contributed to its decline.
Shivaji Satam told the news portal, “We used to ask the channel why they were shutting it down. We were neck-to-neck with KBC. Yes, the show experienced a slight decline in TRPs, but what show doesn’t? Before discontinuing the show, they tampered with its agenda. Originally, it aired at 10 pm, but they started airing it at 10:30 pm or once in some time even at 10:forty 5 pm. This weaned the target audience away, or as a minimum they tried to.”
Shivaji Satam as well informed the portal that the channel had issues with this system producer, explaining, “They likely had a controversy with the producer and desired to interchange him. But for us, it wasn’t near to loyalty; it became about friendship. We rose up together. We were a team.”
CID premiered from 1998 and went off-air in 2018, making it one in your entire longest-running television series in India. There are 1,547 episodes in total that had different cases to solve. Created by B.P. Singh and produced by Fireworks Productions, the series became a staple for crime show enthusiasts. The series also starred Dinesh Phadnis as Inspector Fredricks, Ashutosh Gowariker as Sr. Inspector Virendra, Dayanand Shetty, Narendra Gupta and Aditya Srivastava.
