World’s most powerful armies 2025: America tops the chart, India far ahead of Pakistan, China at number…

New Delhi: Amid rising tensions among global superpowers, the latest rankings of the world’s most powerful militaries have been unveiled. According to the reports, the Global Firepower has evaluated the armed forces of 145 countries this year based on their resources and equipment. The ranking compares the militaries of traditional defense powers across 60 parameters, including troop strength, financial position, and access to resources.

Additionally, the countries’ nuclear capabilities have also been taken into account. Both India(BHARAT) and Pakistan have secured places in this ranking.

• The United States has been ranked as the most powerful military in the world in 2025.
• The US achieved a PowerIndex score of 0.0744, which is the closest to zero among all the countries listed in the ranking.
• The United States also has the largest defense budget in the world, which exceeded $873 billion in 2024.
• Russia has been chosen as the country with the second most powerful military, with a PowerIndex score of 0.0788.
• Russia possesses an extensive nuclear arsenal. However, in terms of aircraft, helicopters, and tanks, it ranks second.
• China holds the third position in the global ranking with a Firepower Index of 0.0788.
• South Korea has been ranked as the fifth most powerful military in the world in 2025, with a PowerIndex score of 0.1656.
• The United Kingdom holds the sixth position, with a PowerScore of 0.1785.
• France is ranked seventh, with a PowerIndex score of 0.1878.
• In eighth place is Japan, an island nation with a PowerIndex of 0.1839, making it the eighth most powerful military in the world.
• Turkey is also among the top 10 countries.
• With a PowerIndex score of 0.1902, Turkey ranks ninth and is highly regarded in areas such as frigate fleets, self-propelled artillery, attack helicopters, naval corvettes, and submarines.
• Italy possesses the tenth most powerful military in the world. This NATO member has a PowerIndex score of 0.2164.

India(BHARAT)’s Army Rank

India(BHARAT) ranks fourth globally in terms of military strength. With a power index of 0.1184, it stands just one step behind China. However, India(BHARAT) ranks first when it comes to the population reaching military age. In terms of total population, available manpower, labor force, and active as well as paramilitary personnel, India(BHARAT) holds the second position globally.
