‘Yes, I am ready’: Donald Trump’s big decision on Russia after Ukraine peace talks fail
Trump had been trying to hold trilateral talks with Russia and Ukraine for a long time.

New Delhi: Any possibility of the peace talks between Russia and Ukraine seems to be distant now as Moscow launched the biggest drone attack on its neighbour a day back. It is being interpreted as Russia’s defiance and a message that it is in no mood to compromise on this issue.
What will Doland Trump do now?
Seeing his efforts going to waste, US President Doland Trump indicated that he is preparing to impose second-phase sanctions on Russia, as he said that he is ready to take steps in this direction. However, Trump did not clarify what kind of sanctions this second phase will include, or which countries or companies will be directly affected by it.
He said this when a journalist asked him at the White House. He was asked whether he is ready to impose second-phase sanctions on Russia after the failure of diplomatic talks. In response, Trump said, “Yes, I am ready”.
Diplomatic efforts fail
Doland Trump had been trying to hold trilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for a long time. It is a different matter that till now he has not achieved much success in this. From his statement, it seems that Trump is angry with the failure of his efforts and now wants to adopt a policy of pressure. On the other hand, after the big attack by Russia on Saturday night, Ukrainian President Zelensky also said that through the attack, Putin is seeing how much more the world can tolerate him.
US responds firmly
Joseph Keith Kellogg Jr., the US’s special envoy for Russia and Ukraine affairs, also reacted sharply to Russia’s attack. He said on the social media platform X, “The danger in any war is escalation. Russia appears to be escalating with the largest attack of the war hitting offices of the UKR Cabinet in Kyiv. I was with their PM @Svyrydenko_Y two weeks ago in that building. History shows events can escalate out of control through actions as these. It is why President Trump is working to stop this war. The attack was not a signal that Russia wants to diplomatically end this war.”
Russia Ukraine war latest
Russia has so far captured about 20 percent of Ukraine’s land in the war. Although it has also suffered heavy losses in this conflict, instead of retreating, it is gradually trying to increase its occupation. Trump has indicated several times in recent weeks that he wants to adopt a different path to end this war, but so far, his efforts have not yielded any concrete results. In such a situation, he now wants to put pressure on Russia by resorting to sanctions, so that the war can be stopped or Russia can be forced to negotiate.
