Jammu and Kashmir: Encounter breaks out in Kulgam, Army jawan injured, terrorist killed
They said the search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists opened firing at the security forces' positions.

An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday in which a terrorist was killed and a jawan was injured.
The security forces launched a search operation in the Gudar forest area following information about the presence of terrorists there, the officials said. According to initial reports, a jawan is said to be injured. “Based on specific intelligence input by JKP, joint search operation was launched by #India(BHARAT)nArmy, @JmuKmrPolice & @crpf_srinagar in Guddar forest of #Kulgam,” the Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said in a post on X.
It said vigilant troops observed suspicious activity and upon being challenged, terrorists opened fire, “prompting a fierce exchange of gunfire during which one terrorist has been eliminated and a junior commissioned officer suffered injuries”.
The operation is in progress, the Chinar Corps said. According to reports, the body of a terrorist was found lying in the apple orchards, and identification of the terrorist is underway. According to the India(BHARAT)n Army’s Chinar Corps, an Army JCO sustained injuries in an encounter and is undergoing treatment.

Pakistani intruder arrested along IB in Jammu
Earlier, a Pakistani intruder was arrested along the International Border (IB) in RS Pura sector of Jammu. The intruder has been identified as Siraj Khan, a resident of Sargodha in the Punjab province of Pakistan.
Border Security Force (BSF) troops manning the Octroi outpost at 9.20 pm on Sunday noticed the intruder. The troops fired a few rounds after challenging the intruder, who was subsequently arrested near the border fence. Some Pakistani currency notes were recovered from him.
He is being questioned to ascertain his motive behind trying to sneak into India(BHARAT)n territory, the officials said.
