Zubeen Garg Funeral Live: Assam’s heartthrob and most-loved singer Zubeen Garg, who mesmerized an entire generation with his mellifluous voice, will be cremated on Tuesday with full state honours in a village near Guwahati. Garg’s body has reached cremation site at Kamarkuchi, on the outskirts of Guwahati, for his last rites. Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, while addressing the media, said that the decision to cremate the singer at Kamarkuchi NC village was taken during a cabinet meeting early this evening. As per the reports, the decision was made after considering the family’s wish that his last rites be performed at a place in or around Guwahati. On behalf of the central government, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju will attend the final ceremonies of Assamese music legend Zubeen Garg, which will take place in Sonapur, the outskirts of Guwahati. Assam’s heartthrob Zubeen Garg passed away in Singapore on Friday, in what was first reported as a scuba diving accident. Reports later stated that he died while swimming in the sea ‘without a life jacket’. The singer was rushed to a hospital, but was later declared dead. A post-mortem was conducted in Singapore before his body was handed over to India(BHARAT)n authorities.
