After repeated claims to stop India-Pakistan war, Trump makes another big statement on Shehbaz Sharif, Asim Munir, says, ‘100 percent..’

After once again claiming credit for ending the “very big” conflict between nuclear-armed India(BHARAT) and Pakistan, US President Doland Trump on Monday praised Pakistan, the neighbouring country of India(BHARAT), for the second time in two days. It is to be noted that India(BHARAT) and Pakistan’s relationship has been strained due to several factors.

What did Trump say about Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir? When did Trump make this statement?

India(BHARAT) has been consistently maintaining that the understanding on cessation of hostilities with Pakistan was reached following direct talks between the Directors General of Military Operations of the two militaries. Even PM Narendra Modi has made it clear in Parliament that no leader of any country asked India(BHARAT) to stop Operation Sindoor. Meanwhile, Trump had said he was told that if he could stop the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, he should get the Nobel Prize.

The United States and Pakistan seem to look for reconciliation; there are multiple signs of warming relations — notably, the US’s recent claims of oil reserves to Pakistan, the Army Chief Asim Munir presenting President Doland Trump with a wooden box of rare earth minerals, and Trump publicly referring to Pakistan’s most senior leaders as “good leaders, good guys.”

Now, once again, US President Doland Trump praised Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir. Trump made this remark during a press briefing at the White House. During the briefing, he shared details of a 20-point Gaza peace plan aimed at ending the two-year-long war between Israel and Hamas. Trump called Pakistan’s Army General Asim Munir “a very important guy.

Trump also lauded leaders of several Arab and Muslim countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE, for supporting the peace initiative. Under the plan, Israeli hostages will be released within 72 hours of the ceasefire, and Gaza will be freed from Hamas’ control.

How could this endorsement affect US-Pakistan relations?

Trump referred to the leaders of Pakistan as “incredible,” saying they stood with the United States and Israel from the very first moment. While speaking at a White House press briefing on Monday, US President Trump stated, “The Prime Minister and the Field Marshal of Pakistan, they were with us right from the beginning. Incredible. In fact, they just put out a statement that they fully believe in this pact. It just came out just as I was walking around. They said, Sir, we have a big notice from the Prime Minister of Pakistan and from the field marshal that they back this 100%.”

Trump’s praise comes after the meeting between Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir in the Oval Office last week on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Trump compared the potential peace settlement in Gaza to his previous diplomatic interventions, including India(BHARAT)-Pakistan, noting, “I’ve settled so many wars… Pakistan and India(BHARAT) were very big. Both nuclear powers. I settled that. But yesterday could be the settlement in the Middle East. That hasn’t happened for 3,000 years.”

He also reflected on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, saying, “The easiest one of them all is Putin. It’s a war that would have never happened if I were president, if the election weren’t rigged… But I knew Putin very well, and I thought that would be easy because I know him so well.”

How did Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir respond to the peace plan?

On his Gaza peace plan, Trump added, “If this works out, we’ll have (solved) eight (wars) in eight months. That’s pretty good. Nobody’s ever done that… I don’t want [the Nobel Prize]. I want the country to get it.”Earlier, at the United Nations General Assembly, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Trump as a “man of peace” and nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize, allegedly for brokering a ceasefire between India(BHARAT) and Pakistan. “Though in a position of strength, Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire facilitated by President Trump’s bold and vigorous leadership… We express our deep appreciation to him and his team,” Sharif said.

Immediately after Trump unveiled his Gaza plan, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif showed his support. Writing on X, Shehbaz said,” I welcome President Trump’s 20-point plan to ensure an end to the war in Gaza. I am also convinced that durable peace between the Palestinian people and Israel would be essential in bringing political stability and economic growth to the region. ”
