Mahesh Bhatt returned to direction after 22 years for daughter Alia Bhatt’s Sadak 2. And in an interview with Elle US Magazine, the actress revealed why she avoided watching parents Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan’s films during childhood.
She said, “Honestly, I was very sensitive as a child and I took the films too seriously. I didn’t want to see my mother being pushed out of a window or see her suffering. That wasn’t something I wanted to engage with.”
Talking about the films her sister Pooja Bhatt did, she said, “The cutesy romantic stuff I could handle.” Alia spoke about the cinema she liked. “I liked what I saw coming from the television box—the people dancing around and making faces at each other. I thought it might be nice to be inside that box one day.”
On nepotism
Alia Bhatt, who has experienced the same nepotism debate several times in the past, has made an intriguing revelation recently. Sharing her take on being a star kid, the actress told a news portal that ‘she was initially naive about her privileges.’
She further added that while she had always known her family’s presence in the film industry but things weren’t always easy for her too. Expressing her inclination towards movies, the Brahmastrastar remarked, “But it’s not like my father ever spoke to me like, ‘Oh, the day you want to act, we will give you this movie’.” In fact, according to her, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has never even brought up the privilege part. “Never,” she continued.
