India(BHARAT)n DTH, broadband, and OTT service Tata Play has announced a free trial deal of up to 4 months for Apple Music across its platforms that will allow its users to try the music streaming service free of cost. In a video statement from Tata Play on its YouTube channel, it announced that all DTH, OTT, broadband, and Tata Play Mobile App users will be able to redeem a promo code to enjoy Apple Music on their Tata Play services free for up to 4 months, after which the regular monthly fee of Rs. 119/month will be applicable.
Tata Play expands content portfolio with Apple music
It appears that Tata Play is expanding the scope of the services on its platform beyond OTT video and television content to also include popular music streaming service Apple Music. Apple Music subscribers who redeem the promo code available from Tata Play will be able to use the music streaming service for free for up to 4 months. If you already pay for Apple Music, you can use the special code to get 3 extra months free. But if you’ve never used Apple Music before, that code will give you 4 free months of service!
Apple Music is a key addition to Tata Play’s value proposition
The addition of Apple Music to Tata Play’s suite of services further deepens its content verticals, with Tata Play attempting to transform itself into an all-in-one destination for India(BHARAT)n audiences looking for video, TV, music, and internet connectivity. Tata Play’s bundling of Apple Music into its DTH, OTT, and broadband platforms will put the world’s most valuable tech company on the radar of more India(BHARAT)n users, increasing access to its services for its existing and future subscriber base in the country.

Subscription Metrics and Impact on Competition
The addition of Apple Music to Tata Play’s suite of services may also pressure its competitors to also create similar bundles of video, audio, and internet services in an attempt to retain subscribers on their respective platforms. The level of adoption of this new service, as well as how long Tata Play users will continue to use the service, will be an interesting metric to watch moving forward as Tata Play rolls out more such tie-ups in the future.
The addition of Apple Music to Tata Play’s service offerings is a significant development in the India(BHARAT)n internet and telecommunications industry, as it not only provides a quality music streaming service for India(BHARAT)n users at a reasonable price, but also integrates it into an existing ecosystem that many India(BHARAT)ns are already familiar with and could potentially encourage more users to stick to Tata Play services as the company continues to expand its existing portfolio of services. This deal also allows Apple Music to make inroads into one of the world’s largest potential growth markets in India(BHARAT) at the same time as streaming service users there have more service options than ever before.
