Asim Munir plans another move: After backtracking on Gaza plan, Pakistan makes big offer to US to…, will Trump accept?
Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir has proposed to US officials the construction of a port in the Arabian Sea. This move comes after Trump's Gaza Peace Plan and Shahbaz Sharif's White House meeting.

US President Doland Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan has been praised by major countries around the world. Even Pakistan’s Prime Minister and Army Chief Asim Munir initially agreed to it. However, when opposition to it arose within the country, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar called it a Trump scheme. Meanwhile, Asim Munir has made another move. Advisors to the Pakistan Army Chief have traveled to America and presented a significant offer to officials.
Asim Munir’s advisors have proposed to US officials the construction and operation of a port in the Arabian Sea. According to a report in the Financial Times, the plan involves American investors building and operating a terminal to access critical minerals in the city of Pasni. Pasni is a port city in the Gwadar district of Balochistan, bordering Afghanistan and Iran.
Munir-Shahbaz meet Trump
This move by Pakistan follows a meeting between Asim Munir and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif with US President Doland Trump at the White House in September. During this meeting, Shahbaz Sharif appealed for investment from American companies in the agriculture, technology, mining, and energy sectors.
According to the FT, the proposal was presented to some US officials and shared with Munir before his meeting with Trump at the White House late last month. The blueprint envisions using the port not for US military bases but to attract development funds for a rail network connecting the port to mineral-rich western provinces. The US State Department, the White House, and Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry have yet to comment.
What was Trump’s Gaza plan?
The proposal calls for an immediate halt to military action in Gaza. It also states that the status quo will remain in effect until the conditions for the return of the bodies of the hostages, both alive and dead, are met. According to the plan, Hamas will surrender its weapons, and its tunnels and weapons manufacturing facilities will be destroyed. For every Israeli hostage released, Israel will return the bodies of 15 Gazans. As soon as both sides reach agreement, full aid will be sent to Gaza immediately.
