Bad news for Trump, Putin as China debuts THIS deadly nuclear-capable missile, has range of 8000 km, can destroy enemies in a blink, it is…

China, Pakistan’s close ally, has been making headlines around the globe due to its rapidly modernizing military equipment and advanced weapon systems. Over the past few years, the country has made great strides not only with its growing economy but also with advancements in technology, scientific development, and strategic defense measures. From advances in aerospace engineering to cyber capabilities, it is clear that China’s technological advancements greatly contribute to its position as an up-and-coming superpower on the world stage.

What is China’s newly debuted JL-1 missile?

The neighbouring nation has made leaps and bounds in advancing its defense structure and significantly increasing its defense budget toward developments in research, technology, and the creation of advanced arms systems.

Why is the JL-1 considered a game-changer in nuclear warfare?

In a significant advancement in defense, China has developed a new missile. This advancement is expected to raise concerns, especially in the United States. This relates to the Chinese Jinglei-1 (JL-1) missile. The Chinese JL-1 can reach America’s Alaska and other states. In this event, it can be a nuclear threat to a large part of the U.S. By developing this first-of-its-kind missile capable of carrying nuclear weapons, China has surprised countries like Russia and the United States.

Which advanced technologies make the JL-1 superior to US and Russian missiles?

The JL-1 missile was first shown in September during China’s Victory Day parade, along with other strategic missiles. China’s Jinglei-1 (JL-1) missile is an air-launched ballistic missile with a nuclear capability. It can be carried by the H-6N strategic bombers of the Chinese Air Force. This missile is thought to complete the People’s Liberation Army’s nuclear triad, i.e., giving China the ability to deliver nuclear weapons via air, land, and sea.

According to an analysis published in this month’s issue of the Ordnance Industry Science Technology magazine, this hypersonic long-range missile is the only one in the world with a nuclear warhead capability, as reported by the South China Morning Post. Such an ability puts China ahead of the United States and Russia in this new class of advanced weapons. Additionally, the JL-1 (Shocking Thunder-1) missile boasts a range of 8,000 km (4,971 miles). The H-6N bomber that carries it has a combat range of 4,000 km, which can be further extended with aerial refueling support.

According to the Chinese military magazine, this combination gives the weapon system an operational range of over 8000 km, which is more than capable of reaching Alaska or targets in the third island chain within the Pacific. The analysis mentions Alaska is the primary installation of the U.S. National Missile Defense System. The JL-1 weapon would have no real operational capacity unless it could present a tangible threat to the U.S. system.

Where does China plan to deploy the JL-1 for maximum strategic impact?

The article continues that if a Chinese bomber were to take off from an airbase located in the Russian Far East, it has the potential to deliver a nuclear warhead to the continental United States. The potential for a Chinese bomber flying out of a Russian Far East airbase was demonstrated during a joint air exercise that took place last July. For this reason, the possibility cannot be entirely excluded.

This Chinese missile is being compared with Russian and American air-launched, nuclear-capable missiles. The only nuclear-armed cruise missile in service with the U.S. Air Force is the AGM-86B, and it’s 43 years old. Russia has the air-launched hypersonic missile Kinzhal (Kh-47M2), which can carry a nuclear warhead, with a range of approximately 1,500 and 2,000 km.

None of the existing American or Russian missiles can match the strategic reach and technological edge of China’s JL-1. However, it does have certain limitations — particularly the constraints of its launch platform. The 15-meter (49-foot) missile is too long to fit inside the internal weapons bay of any aircraft, including that of the H-20 stealth bomber. It has been designed specifically for the H-6N. The H-6 series is a derivative of the Soviet Tupolev Tu-16. The H-6N features an aerial refueling probe that greatly extends its operational range. Unfortunately, it retains the limitations of its older airframe, including limited payload capacity, subsonic performance, and no stealth capability. Because of its limitations, it cannot contend with West’s bombers such as the B-2 Spirit or B-21 Raider.
