Both Pakistan and Bangladesh have confirmed that two Bangladeshi youths were killed fighting for the Tehreek-e-Taliban.
Islamabad: The current government of Bangladesh, led by Muhammad Yunus, is strengthening bilateral ties with Pakistan following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government. However, another connection is taking place between terrorists which has alarmed Islamabad’s security agencies. Both Pakistan and Bangladesh have confirmed that two Bangladeshi youths were killed fighting for the Tehreek-e-Taliban. As per the Dhaka-based newspaper The Daily Star, in September, a young man was killed fighting for the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He had been missing for over 18 months. The killings of Bangladeshi youths have made headlines in Pakistan.
Is TTP Following ISIS’s Way For Hiring Terrorists?
Earlier, youths from different countries were seen fleeing their countries to join ISIS but now the TTP is also following the same way and hiring mercenaries from other countries. This could pose a significant problem for Pakistan as the security forces have proved ineffective in controlling the extremist outfit. And if this practice continues the difficulties for Islamabad will increase further.
Bangladeshi ‘Jihadi Fighters’ Killed In Pakistan
The Bangladeshi Jihadis killed in Pakistan were later identified as Ratan Dhali (29) and Faizan Hussain (22). As per Bangladeshi news outlets, both the Jihadis hailed from Muksudpur Upazila in Gopalganj. As per Pak officials, both were killed in an encounter with security agency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in September.
As per the Special Branch of Dhaka Police and the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Intelligence Unit (CTTI), both Ratan and Faizal were missing and had reached Pakistan via a route from Afghanistan in March last year.
CTTI investigation revealed that both youths used to work at a medical center in Dhaka. There, they met some individuals who assured them of “a better job and a religious mission.”
Bangladeshi Militant Killed In April
Earlier, as many as 54 TTP militants were gunned down by Pakistani security forces during an operation in Waziristan in April. A Bangladeshi youth, identified as Ahmed Zubair, was among the deceased.
