China moving forward to occupy Taiwan, warn US agencies, citing Beijing’s increasing military preparation and modernisation
A CSIS report warns that the United States is now on track to lose the nuclear arms race to China.
New Delhi: It seems that the countdown to China’s attack on Taiwan has begun, and Xi Jinping has set a calendar timeline of 2027. Especially after Doland Trump became the US President, Xi Jinping’s mission in Taiwan has become easier. This is because there is now little hope that the USA will come forward to defend Taiwan from a Chinese attack. Meanwhile, China is continuously expanding its capabilities and developing destructive weapons. US intelligence estimates that the Chinese military is preparing to attack Taiwan by 2027.
Xi Jinping’s 2027 timeline
Since assuming power in 2012, Xi Jinping has set the 2027 timeline. He began aggressively strengthening China’s military. Now, China has an army of over 2 million, making it the most powerful force in the world. However, the Chinese military lacks much combat experience, and its last major military engagement was in 1979 on the border against Vietnam, in which it suffered defeat.
China is moving forward to occupy Taiwan by 2027
Xi Jinping has increased the Chinese military’s budget to $245 billion annually. He has launched a massive anti-corruption campaign and dismissed more than 300,000 service members. Although the US defence budget is still nearly three times larger, China is steadily closing the gap. Meanwhile, reports from the US intelligence agency, the CIA, and the Pentagon have warned that China is moving forward to be prepared to militarily occupy Taiwan by 2027. This was also evident during a military parade in the capital, Beijing, in September, when China demonstrated for the first time its capability to launch nuclear bombs from the nuclear triad—land, sea, and air. China also demonstrated the DF-5 intercontinental ballistic missile, which can deliver a nuclear bomb to any part of the United States.
China will possess over 1,000 nuclear weapons by 2030
American experts are warning that China will possess over 1,000 nuclear weapons by 2030. A CSIS report warns that the United States is now on track to lose the nuclear arms race to China. Missiles are being manufactured at a rapid pace in China. Citing satellite imagery, CNN’s 2025 report states that China has expanded the area of its missile factories by 60%. Hundreds of acres of villages have been demolished to build underground bunkers, new factories have been constructed, and new launchpads have been built to launch missiles. American defence expert William Alberck has stated that China is engaged in a race that is a marathon. China is working on a plan to attack the US if it attempts to defend Taiwan from missile and drone attacks.
