Delhi weather: Cold wave conditions continued to persist in Delhi as the city recorded its coldest November day of the season on Sunday with maximum temperature dropping to 24.3 degrees Celsius, 1.7 degrees below normal. According to Met, Sunday’s temperature was the lowest of the season, while the second-lowest was 25 degrees Celsius.

Delhi records coldest November

As per Met data, the lowest maximum for November 2024 was 23.5 degrees Celsius, recorded on the 18th, while November 2025 was the coldest in Delhi in the last five years, with night temperatures dropping to 8 degrees Celsius, the lowest in three years, and the monthly average minimum settled at 11.5 degrees Celsius.

The lowest minimum temperature logged in Delhi so far this year was 8 degrees Celsius, compared to 9.5 degrees Celsius last year, and 9.2 degrees Celsius in 2023, the Met data showed. The average minimum in 2024 was 14.7 degrees Celsius, while it stood at 12 degrees Celsius in 2023, 12.3 degrees Celsius in 2022 and 11.9 degrees Celsius in 2021, as per the data.

Will cold wave persist in Delhi?

Meanwhile, weather agencies have predicted cold-wave conditions to persist in the Delhi-NCR region over the coming days with temperature expected to hover around the same mark amid foggy condition.

The Met department has predicted dense fog in Delhi for Monday, while minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to remain within same range.

Delhi air quality improves after 24 days

On the pollution front, Delhi residents breathed a literal sigh of relief on Sunday as air quality in the national capital improved to the ‘poor’ category, after staying in the ‘very poor’ bracket for 24 days, often bordering near the ‘severe zone’.

According Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, Delhi’s 24-hour average AQI at 4 PM stood at 279, 24 days after the city last recorded Air Quality Index (AQI) in the ‘poor’ category on November 5, when the readings showed 202.
