A man choked his live-in partner to death at their home in southwest Delhi, placed her body in his car with the intention of disposing it, but fell asleep as he was in an inebriated condition.
Delhi murder: In a shocking incident, a man choked his live-in partner to death at their home in southwest Delhi, placed her body in his car with the intention of disposing it, but fell asleep as he was in an inebriated condition. According to the police, the incident came to light on Wednesday morning when neighbours noticed the woman’s lifeless body lying the car parked outside the couple’s house in Chhawla.

Giving details, a senior police officer said the accused, 35-year-old Virendra, got into a heated argument with his live-in partner, 44, and allegedly throttled her with his elbow during the scuffle. Virendra, who was heavily drunk at the time, then carried her body to his car, allegedly with the intention of disposing of it, but was too intoxicated to drive and returned home where he dozed off after another round of drinks, he added.
As per the police, Virendra, who is married and has children, had been in a live-in relationship with the 44-year-old deceased victim for the past two years.
“The woman earlier owned a house in Palam, which they sold, and using that money, Virendra purchased a three-storey house in Chhawla under his own name in August. Virendra had kept Rs 21 lakh from the sale of the woman’s Palam house, and this often became a a point of contention between the couple,” they said.
How the crime unfolded?
On the intervening night of November 25 and 26, both had been allegedly drinking, when an altercation broke out between them, during which Virendra pinned her down on the bed and choked her to death with his elbow. After the murder, the accused called two friends, a man and a woman, who allegedly helped him carry the body down to the car.
After his friends left, Virendra tried to drive off to dispose off the body, but was too drunk to continue beyond a little distance, and decided to head back home. The accused left the woman’s body in his car, went back upstairs, resumed drinking and eventually dozed off.
The murder came to light when a neighbour spotted the woman’s body in the car at around 9 AM on Wednesday morning, and alerted the police. Soon a police team arrived at the spot and arrested Virendra, who was still asleep, an officer said, adding that efforts are underway to trace and apprehend his associates.
