Fact Check: KL Rahul To Be Sacked As Lucknow Super Giants Captain

New Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul is making headlines after Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated them in the recently concluded Indian Premier League match 57 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka was seen humiliating the LSG skipper KL Rahul in front of the whole crowd inside the stadium. Rahul just kept listening as Goenka went on ranting. It was visible as it happened in front of everyone.

Now reports are floating all over the internet that KL Rahul will not play for Lucknow in the upcoming clashes and the wicketkeeper batter will unlikely to be retained for the next season.

News agency PTI reported that Rahul, who was roped in before the auction in 2022 for a record ₹17 crore, is unlikely to be retained before the mega auctions in 2025. However, there is speculation that the skipper might step down on his own and concentrate on batting during the next two games.

“There is a five-day gap before the next game against DC. As of now, no decision has been taken but it is understood that if Rahul plans to just concentrate on his batting for the remaining two games, the management won’t mind,” an IPL source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

However,another news agency IANS  reported that everything is fine between Sanjeev Goenka and KL Rahul.

However, sources close to LSG refuted these rumours and said, “Everything is fine between the two” and “only Rahul will be leading the team this season”.

“It’s all rumours that Rahul will be displaced from the captaincy and won’t be picked in the auction. The last match didn’t go our way, but everything is fine now between the team and owners. Rahul is in good space and taking rest before the game against DC,” sources close to LSG told IANS.
