In an interview with Sapan Verma for his YouTube channel, Javed Akhtar discussed his failed marriage with Honey Irani and admitted that the problems began when he was once a heavy drinker. The lyricist advised the formative years against alcoholism, mentioning, “I've wasted quite some time drinking. I was once once a drunkard. I finished drinking on July 31, 1991.
