Huma Qureshi on Deepika Padukone getting trolled for saying she met other people while dating Ranveer Singh: 'We are...'
Bollywood royalty Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s grand appearance on the premiere episode of Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee With Karan 8 created enough noise among the audience. Deepika faced backlash for pouring her heart out on the show as she shed light on the difficult phase of her life and the early stages of her relationship with Ranveer. The actress was mercilessly trolled for saying that she was seeing other guys, albeit her commitment was always towards Ranveer. Recently, Huma Qureshi, opened up on Deepika’s trolling saying that trolls often don’t know what they want.
During the podcast AfterHours with All About Eve, when Huma Qureshi was asked to share her opinion on the trolling of Deepika Padukone, the actress responded, “Ab kya bol sakte hai, (what can we say) ridiculous…We are supposed to present a kind of palatable…I guess, something they are expecting. I don’t know what it is; I don’t think anyone knows what it is.”
Reflecting on the prevalent trolling culture, where celebrities are targeted for everything they believe in, Qureshi noted, “If someone is wearing black, troll, if someone is not wearing black, troll them. You know what I mean…”
In a heartfelt conversation with the filmmaker Karan Johar on his chat show, Deepika Padukone and her husband Ranveer Singh shared insights into their relationship and marriage. She had said, “I wanted to be single for a while because I had come from difficult relationships. I was going through a phase where I said ‘I just don’t want to be attached, don’t want to be committed’. And I had fun! And then he comes along, so I didn’t commit, until he proposed to me. There was no ‘commitment as such. Even if we were technically allowed to see other people, we would just keep coming back to each other.” This statement by the Fighter actress led a section of people to come down heavily on her.
Meanwhile, Huma Qureshi is all set for the release of her upcoming project Pooja Meri Jaan. She also completed the shooting for her web series Maharani 3 in October 2023. It is expected to premiere soon on SonyLIV. The series also features Amit Sial, Vineet Kumar, Kani Kusruti, Anuja Sathe, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya.
